Obituary

Roger was born in Salt Lake City on December 27, 1940 to Clyde and Hilma Barker. He is the third of three children.
Roger left this temporal life on December 11, 2021 due to complications from a fall in his apartment. To his last day on Earth, Roger was a friend to everyone. His favorite line as he ended conversations with you was "…have a great day today and a better day tomorrow". Roger served in the U.S. Army, served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Atlantic Central States, and was generous with his friendship throughout his life.
Roger had many jobs and interests during his 80 years. He loved movies, theater, antiques, and electronics. He took pride in being able to fix almost anything electronic. He worked for many years for an audio-visual firm setting up systems for events. He also worked for the Church in a facilities capacity. The job he loved most was being a crossing guard in various locations. He loved being able to help kids be safe. He made every day, especially holidays, special for these kids. They loved Roger.
Roger is survived by his sister, JoAnne Elmer (Stan) of Bountiful; and 5 Douglas nephews who adore him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Hilma Barker; and his sister MarGene Barker Lyon (Douglas). He leaves this life a happy camper! The heavenly reunion has been marvelous.
Bless you Roger – our brother, uncle, and friend.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 17, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Taylorsville City Cemetery.
