Obituary
Leslie Ray Richey, aged 77, passed away on August 15, 2022, in Roy, Utah. Born October 5, 1944, in Mesa, Arizona, he grew up in Arizona, Oregon, Washington State, and Alaska as the youngest of seven children. He served a mission in the New England states, then went to BYU where he met his wife, Diane Marie Sheffer. Ray and Diane were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple on July 14, 1967. He joined the United States Army in 1968, which took him all over the United States and the world. He received a bachelor’s degree later in life and retired as an Army Captain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Mable Richey, five of his siblings, and his wife. He is survived by his four daughters, Heather Weisman (Charles), Dawn Quada (Andrew), Christie Beltran (Victor), and Lucinda Smith (Bryan), and 20 grandchildren including Corban Turman (Aishling), Jarod Turman, Ammon Turman, Christiana Dennis (Kevin), Samantha Mosqueda (Chris), Katie Quada-Chavez (Dominique), Julie, and Sara Quada, James (Naomi), Maria, Tomas, Nathan, Addison, and Holley Beltran, Tyler, Ethan, Kaylin, Ella, Julia, and Megan Smith. He had 9 great-grandchildren Sam Turman, Rylee Turman, Maggie Dennis, Henry Dennis, Josie Dennis, John Mosqueda, Mary Beltran, Braxton Beltran, and Elaina Beltran. Ray was a veteran of the Vietnam War and will be buried with military honors in Taylorsville, Utah on August 23, 2022. A viewing will be held at 9:30 am the same day, followed by a funeral service at 11:00, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 3776 West 5375 South, Roy Utah 84067. Interment to follow.
