Shelby Armilda Short, 29, passed away on Thursday, October 15th, 2020, in West Valley, Utah. Savanna Shelby Short, passed as a result of her injuries with her mom in a fatal auto crash that shocked the nation. Shelby is survived by her husband Christopher James Short, her daughter Aurora Peyton Johnson, stepdaughter Skye Hurst, parents David and Susan Ruesch and Dan Boyce, siblings: Kristina Boyce, Nanci Arroyo, Justice Boyce, Daniel Ruesch, Nerissa Lopez and Corbin Ruesch, grandparents of Sharon Boyce and Aileen Ruesch, ten nieces and two nephews.
Shelby Short was born at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Ut. She lived most of her life in Northern Utah. She graduated high school in 2011, and gave birth to Aurora Johnson the same year. She married Christopher Short on June 17, 2020, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They eagerly anticipated the birth of their daughter and the start of their dreams. Shelby Short met Christopher Short in grade school where she captured his heart.
She was an avid photographer and played the violin. She loved succulents, orchids, and gardening. She was passionate about helping others in need and donated baked goods to the Jordan Valley Ward and neighbors in the Salt Lake City vicinity. Shelby was a natural born comedian and had an adventurous spirit. She loved with her whole heart and was deeply guarded at the same time.
Shelby Short was passionate about mental health awareness, advocacy for autism and Dad’s Coke-a-Cola. She had wisdom beyond her years and could teach us all a lesson or two. In all of her trials and tribulations she persevered in them. Her beautiful light, and her angel baby were extinguished too soon.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 2:00PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held one hour prior, burial at Taylorsville City Cemetery.
