Samuel Richard "Dick" Gerrard, age 68, died December 11, 1997 in Salt Lake City.

Born November 4, 1929 in Murray, a son of Leonard and Mildred Bird Gerrard. Married Shirley June Baker on May 22, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Active member LDS Church, where he served as home teacher, Sunday School teacher, Elders Quorum President, High Priest, High Councilman and Bishop. Served LDS Mission in the Great Lakes, 1950-1952; also served with his wife as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Dick shared his singing talent throughout the valley. He survived a severe stroke 12 years ago and was a fighter to the end.Survived by his wife, Shirley, West Valley City; children, Marie (Bruce) McRae, Taylorsville; Pam (Greg) Nordgren, Wilsonville, OR; R. Scott (Donna) Gerrard, Las Vegas, NV; Lora (Mike) Lee and David M. (Missy) Gerrard, both of West Jordan; nine grandsons and nine granddaughters; brother, Elder Duane Gerrard, Second Quorum of Seventy, Kaysville; sister, Betty Tye, Taylorsville. Preceded in death by brothers, Stewart, Leonard, and Thomas.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 12 noon, at Granger 14th Ward, 2101 West 3100 South. Friends may call Monday, 5-8 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment Taylorsville Cemetery.
