Obituary

Norman William Johnson was born February 21, 1962 and left us on May 13, 2020. He was born to Lois Lucille and John Norman Johnson. He was a devoted father, doting grandfather, dependable brother, and beloved uncle. He grew up in Taylorsville and graduated from Cottonwood High School. He was an Eagle Scout and even graced the Army with his presence for a short time. He trained to be a sheet metal worker and was amazing at it. He was a humble welder, yet enjoyed sharing his work with his family whether he was hanging off the side of The Joseph Smith Memorial Building or giving away metal sunflowers to put in the yard. Norm loved many things in life. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He never outgrew cartoons, and the older the cartoon the better. He loved Christmas, oh how he LOVED Christmas! He loved buying gifts, loved decorating, loved filling his mom’s living room with ridiculous amounts of poinsettias. If he got wind that someone was struggling with Christmas he was there to remedy it, he believed that Christmas should be as magical for children as possible. Norm is a man who will never be able to be fully captured in words. He loved life and loved to make others happy. He loved his family and would do anything for them at the drop of his Ute cap. He adored his children Travis and Brittnee. He spent years taking care of his mother. If there was something she wanted he made sure she got it. Norm was an equal opportunity spoiler. Just because a child’s parents said no to buying something didn’t mean it was off limits to being purchased by him for the child. He loved spoiling not only his children and mom, but grandchildren, nieces and nephews and whoever happened to be around. There was no impractical purchase to him. He met the love of his life when he was young: the hamburger. He loved his hamburgers plain and plentiful: Buffalo burgers, burgers off the grill, bag o’ burgers from Artic circle, McDonald’s, Dee’s....He truly loved burgers. He also loved malted shakes and homemade ice cream, especially if it was enjoyed with a burger. Norman was preceded in death by his mother Lois Lucille Johnson, father John Norman Johnson, and sister Susan Johnson Brakey. He is survived by his children Travis Johnson and Brittnee (Tyler) Foote, his grandchildren: Koda, Braiden, Cameron, Gabriel, and Willow, and his brother Terry Johnson. Norman will be laid to rest in a graveside service at Taylorsville Cemetery 1635 Gumwood Ave on Friday May 22, 2020 at 11:00 am.
