Morris Daniel Barker, age 87, died December 29, 2001 in Nephi, Utah of cancer.

Born September 27, 1914 in Taylorsville, Utah the fourth child of Daniel and Stella Morris Barker.

Married Gladys Carlson, later divorced. He lived a very full and flamboyant life.

Served in the U.S. Navy as part of the Pacific Fleet during World War II, but never left San Diego, California. Owned and operated the Squealin' Pig Cafe with his family. Held several positions - worked as a guard at the Utah State Prison, Police Officer for Murray City. Retired school bus driver for Granite School District. Known as an avid horseman and rode with the Ute Rangers Mounted Posse for several years. Was a friend to many people.

Survived by children, Sherm and Carol Wood, Taylorsville; Dennis and Ann Barker, Newton, Utah; Dale and Margie Barker, Mt. Pleasant, Utah; Richard and Shonna Dennison, West Jordan; 20 grandchildren; 36 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grand child; many nieces and nephews; sisters, Melba Jones, Taylorsville; Lila Maughn, South Jordan; Arvella and Grant Zaugg, South Jordan; Janice and Dale Evans (serving in the London England Mission); brothers, Ron and Jeanne Barker, Englewood, CA; Vearl and Ruby Barker, Murray; Cline Barker, Manti.

Preceded in death by parents, sister, Phyllis and husband Harold Burgon, brothers, Eugene and wife Vivian Barker, Jay, Ellis and Wilmer Barker, brothers-in-law, Cliff Jones and Dean Maughan.

Funeral service will be held Thurs., 1 p.m., at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where friends may visit Wednesday night 7-9 p.m., and Thursday 12-12:45 p.m. Interment in the Taylorsville Cemetery.
