ichael Aaron Ashton 1971 ~ 2005 Michael Aaron Ashton, 33, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, died suddenly in a rock climbing accident April 16, 2005. Mike always lived with vigor and joy. He loved sports and met his wife at a volleyball game. He was a fun-loving, kind, Christlike man. Like his father, Mike loved working with youth and children, and they loved him. Mike will be deeply missed. Mike was born August 1, 1971 in Phoenix, Arizona, to David and Colleen Ashton. He graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in education, and he taught in schools in Arizona and Utah. He was studying for a master's degree in educational administration at BYU and was due to graduate in June. In the past year, Mike had worked as an assistant principal in several schools as part of his master's program. Mike served a mission in Portland, Oregon and he served in many church callings. He was Young Mens president in the River View Ward at the time of his death. Mike married his sweetheart, Debra Richardson, January 22, 1994 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have five beautiful children, Cameron (10), Aaron (8), Pearl (5), Olivia (2), and Genevieve (1 month). Mike was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife and children; his mother; his grandmother, Pearl Ash-ton; three sisters; four brothers; and many loving family members. Funeral services for Mike will be held Thursday, April 21, 2005, 12 noon at the Taylorsville Utah Stake Center, 1399 W 4800 S, Taylorsville, with Bishop John Barclay presiding. Friends may call Wednesday night at the same location from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services. Interment, Taylorsville City Cemetery, 4500 S Redwood Road.
