Mrs. Mattie Stokes-Knox was born on March 5, 1966, in Augusta, Georgia. The daughter of Ms. Ruby Lee Stokes, Mattie Knox moved with her family to Salt Lake City, Utah in 197I. She was a 1984 graduate of Granger High School, Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost at Faith Temple Pentecostal Church I, under the pastorate of: Dr. Rosemary (Mama) Cosby and Bishop Robert C. Cosby. In 1988 she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and affiliated with Faith Temple Pentecostal Church II.

She was very devoted to the church and was loved by everyone. She worked with the children and taught Sunday School in the children's department. She also was a member of the bulletin staff. She was helpful on all church projects and worked diligently for their success.

Mattie was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Alvin Keith Knox on July 27, 1990. To that union was born one son, Alvin Isaiah Knox. Mattie and her husband and son moved back to Salt Lake City, Utah and reunited with her home church Faith Temple Pentecostal Church I on June 24, 1994.

Sister Mattie Knox was called from this life December 30, 1994, at the age of 28 years old.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her husband, Alvin Keith Knox; son, Alvin Isaiah Knox; mother, Ruby Lee Stokes; sister, Ruby Ann Stokes; three aunts, Katie Stokes, Rita Wimberly, Salt Lake City, Utah, Bertha Byrd, Indianapolis, Indiana; great aunt, Elizan Griffin, New York, New York; four uncles, Elbert Wimberly, Wesley Stokes, Eddie Stokes, Salt Lake City, Utah, Dennis Byrd, Indianapolis, Indiana; thirteen cousins; in-laws; The Faith Temple Church family and a host of friends, relatives and loved ones.
