Obituary

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Grant Zaugg, passed peacefully from this life at his home on January. 16, 2002

He was born on May 12, 1919 in Union, Oregon to Ami Louis and Lydia Chadwick Zaugg. (Whose families were both converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Switzerland and England) He married his sweetheart, Arvella Barker in the Salt Lake Temple on Nov. 7, 1945. They are the parents of six children, 18 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a Mission to Eastern Canada 19401943 and continued selfless service throughout his life, continually setting an example of obedience and dedication in ward and stake teaching and leadership positions. He especially loved being a temple worker at Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. Forever a missionary a lifelong dream was realized to serve with his eternal companion on missions to Nauvoo, IL, and St. George, Utah.

Grant retired in March of 1984 from Western General Dairies after 33 years. His career began with Hi-Land Dairy Association in 1951 as Retail Sales Manager, where he was instrumental in building retail business throughout Utah and into Wyoming, Colorado, and Nevada. Upon the merger of Hi-Land and with Cream O' Weber, creating Western General Dairies, Grant became Area Sales Manager, and then General Sales Manager, the position he held at retirement.

Grant leaves his grateful wife, family and friends with many precious memories and rich blessings, the greatest of which is his deep and abiding testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Arvella; children: Lynda (Ferris) Shaw, Gayle (James A.) Arrowsmith, Marsha Brooks, Yvonne (Stanford) Spencer, Bryan (Harli) Zaugg, and Gary (Colette) Zaugg; 18 grandchildren; three great-grand-children; brothers: Allen and Howard; and a sister, Mary Z. Smith and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lewis, Roy and Lawrence, sisters; Lila Groseth, Rae Long, Evelyn Mcknight and Grace Douglas.

Funeral services will be held Mon. 12 noon, Jan 21, 2002 at the River Ridge 8th Ward, 10200 S. 1300 W. Friends may call Sun. 5-7 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St. and Monday, 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment Taylorsville City Cemetery.
