Obituary

Glen James Ellis was born of goodly parents, Merlin Stephen & Echo Mercy Barber Ellis, 14 Aug 1930 in Kaysville, UT. He passed away 1 Nov, 2010, in Queen Creek, Arizona, of old age.

He was raised for several years on the Joseph Smith farm in Palmyra, NY, where his family ran the farm and hosted people from around the country. Glen loved serving the Maori people in New Zealand as a missionary. He married his sweetheart Nettie Elaine Harding, September 14, 1953. Together they raised 6 children of their own and numerous foster children. Glen was the Provo City Attorney for 23 years. He then had a practice in Hurricane, UT. He and Elaine opened their home and hearts to many in need. They were amazing followers of Jesus Christ. Glen was very generous to others, whether they needed a car or legal advice. As bishop of the Provo 17th Ward, he bought a suit for each missionary called from his ward. Glen taught that generosity should never be coupled with the receiver's gratitude, since that was rare. He taught that one gives for Christ's sake, not for recognition or gratitude. Glen and Elaine served in the St. George Temple and the Athens Greece Mission. Glen was later called as a Sealer in the St. George Temple. After Elaine's death in 2001, Glen moved back to Palmyra, NY, and there met and married Charlotte Spanganberg. They served missions in the Singapore and Oakland, CA.

Glen is survived by his wife, Charlotte J. Ellis of Queen Creek, AZ; his children: Mark Tama (Carol) Ellis, Lehi; Diane Hoki (Marty) Ladwig, Colorado Springs, CO; Moana Kathleen (Roger) Wilcox, Orem; Beth Waiata (Son) Le, Orem; Darlene (Sonny) Brown, Orem; Reid Harding (Tanika) Ellis and Lee Eric (Trista) Ellis. Charlotte's children: Rob Spanganberg, NY; Leslie (Chris) Doughty, Wrentham, MA; Elaine (Peter) Spanganberg, NY; & Peter (Lynn) Spanganberg, Queen Creek, AZ. Glen has 40 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Elaine & son, Hoskie Upshaw Jr.
