"Loving Father"
George Keil passed away peacefully on 18 March, 2013.
George was born the 23rd of December 1924 in Bennion, Utah to William and Florence Keil . He married Colleen Eakins (now deceased) they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Dad was a man of great compassion, a peace-maker with unconditional love. A veteran of World War II, he was stationed in Italy where he served as a driver for commanders, captains and generals. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. He loved scouting and served in cub and boy scouts throughout his life. He was a graduate of Philmont (adult leader training) and served as Cubmaster and leadership-trainer at Silver Moccasin. He received his Eagle Award and was honored with the Silver Beaver for 25-years of Scouting. Dad married Dorothy Stone Burnett in 1989 and took her children into his heart. They moved to Wales, Utah where he became an active member of the community, serving on the town council, as a volunteer fire-fighter, as water master - all knew and loved George. The city honored him and Dorothy as Grand Marshall of their 4th of July parade. Dad had a tremendous impact on all who knew him. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his children: Irene, Charlie, Lynda, Bill, Florence, Ryan and Richard and by his second family with Dorothy: David, Kathy, Paul, Larry, Karen, Kristen and Kami; many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Florence and Betty; and his brother, Paul. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his wives, Colleen and Dorothy; his daughter, Georgia; his sister, Eleanor; brother Martin.
The family extends our appreciation for the kind care of the staff at the Bel Aire Senior Living and by Hearts for Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 25, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at the Bennion 4th Ward at 2200 West 6250 South. A viewing will be held at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road on Sunday evening 6- 8 pm and Monday at 11:30 am prior to the service at the Church. Interment, Taylorsville Cemetery.
