Elmer Dean Gunnell Maughan, 72, died Friday, May 18, 1990 after a long-term illness.
Born October 3, 1917 in Wellsville, Utah to Elmer Nibley and Veda Gunnell Maughan.
Active member of the LDS Church. He married Lila Fay Barker on March 27, 1943; sealed together on September 26, 1975 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dean served as a High Priest in the Taylorsville Fifth Ward. Veteran WW II. He worked thirty-four years as a reservation supervisor for United Airlines before retirement in 1980. Dean is dearly loved by his family. He was selflessly committed to his friends.
Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Lila; his two sons and two daughters, Larry (Paige) Maughan; Sid (Jeri) Maughan, both Snady; Kathy (Jim) Vicchrilli, Holladay; JannaLee (David) Ward, Rexburg, Idaho. He felt special pride for his nineteen grandchildren, the oldest, Elder Burke Mughan, presently serving in the Washington D.C. South Mission. two sisters, Mrs. Dr. Lloyd (Marie) Wright, Orem; Mrs. Clark (Sarah) Obray, Logan. Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl and Harvey Maughan.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Taylorsville Fifth Ward Chapel, 1555 West Lovely Road. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Golden Rule Funeral Hoe, 4330 South Redwood Road (1700 West), and Wednesday one hour prior to services at the Church.
Interment: Taylorsville Memorial Gardens.
