Don "Butch" Baldwin Nixon 1947 - 2025
Don "Butch"Baldwin Nixon was born on August 23,1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Onie Mae Moore and Felton Baldwin. In his youth he was raised by his step parents. He took on his stepfather's last name, Ernest Nixon. Edna Pearl and William Moore were his siblings.
He passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 22, 2025 at the age of 77 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He married Christina "Tina" Alvarado on August 24, 2013. They married in his golden years. He loved Tina deeply.
He is the father to nine children from previous marriages. Stacey,Tracey, Lacey, Kristie (Mother - Cynthia Ware). Lisa, Tanesha, and Amber Dawn (Mother - Robyn Gaffney). Donnie (Son) and Tara (Mother - Tamara Lynn). He leaves behind 13 grandchildren.He is also the stepfather to Tina's son and daughter. (Antonio and Ana Alvarado).
Early in life his grandfather told him he could do anything he wanted to. Don proved his grandfather right. Everything he did was with his greatest effort and ability.
He was known as being a "Jack of all Trades."
He was very smart and articulate. He had great people skills. Meaningful conversations were carried on by him with everyone he met.
While attending the University of Utah he played on the school's football team. Many stories were shared by him about this experience. (His favorite professional team were the "Chiefs" and "Raiders".)
During the Vietnam War Era he served his country as a Sergeant in the Army. (He loved America.)
After graduating from college he was an elementary school teacher in Salt Lake City. (During his career he was able to teach 2 of his own children.)
One of his careers was to drive trains for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Don's family, friends and acquaintances loved the interesting stories that he told about his life experiences.
Everyone who knew him loved him and cared about him.
At the time of his passing he was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
His is survived by his loving wife, "Tina",
Step Children, Anna Alvarado, Step Grandchildren, Mateo Alvarado. Daughters and Sons in Law, Lacey ( Brandon), Kristie, Tannesa, and Lisa. Rebecca Flat. His son, Donnie. He had a 13 grandchildren. Also his nephew, Billie Williams.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Edna Pearl and William Moore. Three daughters, Tracey, Stacey, and Amber Dawn (She died as a baby) Nixon. His sister, Edna Pearl. His Stepson, Antonio Alvarado.
A Celebration of Life and Grave Side Service will be on May 21, 2025 at 2:00 P.M.. Location is will be at Taylorsville Cemetery at 4567 South Redwood Road across the street from the Salt Lake Community College.
