Obituary

Gayle Urban Rogers (83), born September 7, 1938, in Alamosa, Colorado to Walter and Vera Rogers, died Monday, October 11, 2021 in his home.

He was an inspiration and example in all things during his 30,329 days; he was a strong, faithful, hard-working man who loved God, Jesus Christ, and the gospel, serving, and especially his family. He spent his life educating and learning, choosing a job that kept him close to family; he opened both Kearns High (1966) and Taylorsville High (1981), teaching auto mechanics and coaching wrestling until retirement. He made acquaintances into family and counted each as one of his.

We are grateful for the extra 21 years we were blessed to have him with us and the medical personnel that helped make that a possibility and became family in the process; we love them and are truly grateful. He will be extremely missed, but his love and legacy will continue to touch the lives of all that knew him.

Survived by wife: Coralee Rogers; 6 children: Machelle, Denise Carter (Curtis), Jim (Sherry), Tim (Tonya), Rob (Holly), and Christopher (Bethany); 15 grandchildren: Rachel, Russell (Christie), Karlee, Sam (Anna), Katie, Caleb (Kassidy), Amy, Joshua, Keren, Morgan, Benson, Lilly, Preston, Abby, and Jacob; and 1 great-grandchild: Sarah. He is also survived by three sisters: Illa Mae Coombs (Roy), Ann Shawcroft (Kent, deceased), Flo Coley (Ferrell); many loved nieces; and nephews. Additionally survived by extended family members.

Preceded in death by parents; brother, Bill; sister-in-law, Mary; brother-in-law, Kent.

We also gratefully acknowledge his heart donor, Joshua, who extended 18 years of life for our dad and grandpa.
