Obituary

Christopher Eric Stone (45), passed away on July 3, 2023. Chris returned home to his Heavenly Father all too soon. Devoted and wonderful father to Kensington (16), Sam (14) and Oliver (13). Chris is the son of Robert Clyde Stone and Cynthia Ann Stone (Swanson). Chris was a loving brother to Dwight (Nicole) Stone, Wendy (Aaron) Combs, Aaron (Shelley) Stone, Emily (Eric) Barton, and Melissa Stone.

Chris was born in Joliet, IL, the 4th of 6 siblings. Chris was an avid defender of the underdog his entire life. He treated all around him with kindness and love. He had a ready smile and was always ready for a friendly conversation. A frequent phrase of people describing Chris was a man with a “sweet kind heart”. Chris served a faithful LDS Mission to Merida, Mexico. After his mission he married Jeanne Keyes, with whom they had three children, they later divorced but still maintained a friendship and strong co-parenting of their children. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelors Psychology.

Chris worked as a foster care worker, and then for many years as a dialysis technician. At the end he was working as a Quality Assistant Manager at Fed-Ex. Chris had incredible work ethic and quickly befriended those around him.

But most importantly to Chris was his role as a father. He gave so much of himself, his time, his energy and his love to helping raise his children. He attended their performances and activities and would sacrifice his sleep and time to always be there for them. Chris rarely put himself first, and even at the end when he was extremely sick and hospitalized, he was concerned if he was bothering other people or taking from their time. Chris sadly did not recover from this time in the hospital, but passed peacefully surround by many of his family members.

Chris’ ready smile, good heart and constant conversations will be greatly missed. Chris you went too soon, but we know you are now at peace and healed with your Heavenly Father.

His services will be at the Church on 2976 West Winchester Drive, West Valley City.
